The parties that have produced the International Trucking Show in recent years in Las Vegas will produce their own, unaffiliated shows next year.
The California Trucking Association will move ITS, which it owns, back to California in 2004. The show will be held in September instead of its usual June date.
Independent Trade Show Management, which CTA had contracted to produce ITS in recent years, will now launch The Truck Show in Las Vegas June 10-12, said company owner Roger Sherrard. ITSM will own and produce the show.
The association decided to return its show to its California roots after holding it in Las Vegas for six years, said Joel Anderson, CTA executive vice president. The 2004 show will be Sept. 23-25 in the Anaheim Convention Center, Anderson said.
The date was changed to September to coincide with the end of the agricultural season, Anderson said.
Sherrard said his grandfather, Wade Sherrard, was the first CTA executive vice president and began ITS in San Francisco in 1961. His father, Gary, followed in his steps, and resigned in 1984 to begin producing ITS as an independent contractor.
Roger Sherrard took over producing ITS when his father retired three years ago. Sherrard said he wants to continue a June truck show in Las Vegas because it does not coincide with any other major industry event.
