Bendix has issued a recall on more than 190,000 of its SR-5 Trailer Spring Brake Valves, resulting in more than 30,000 trailers being recalled by 11 trailer manufacturers. The affected Bendix units include those manufactured between Jan. 1, 2014 and March 4, 2016.

The company says the recalled valves can cause a delay in application of the spring brakes while parking, which may cause a trailer to roll away after it’s decoupled from a tractor. The valve is a “reservoir-mounted trailer valve that can control up to four spring brake actuators during parking or emergency applications,” Bendix says.

An affected trailer, according to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will have an audible air leak from the dash-mounted park control valve or red glad hand when it’s disconnected before the trailer is decoupled, and the leak will continue until the trailer reservoirs and spring brake chambers have no air pressure.
