ELD mandate final deadline â today or tomorrow?
If FMCSA and various news outletsâ use of Dec. 16/Dec. 17 for the deadline hasnât exactly been 100% consistent leading into this week, the CVSAâs has. Today is the last day itâs OK to use a grandfathered AOBRD for those covered by the mandate. Wildcard thereafter: as usual, extent of enforcement.

The AOBRD-to-ELD shift: Data/edits and visibility at roadside
With AOBRDs, edits made in the back office as a general rule donât present to the roadside officer. Under the ELD specification, however, data transmittal at roadside includes those edits. It also includes detailed records of the truckâs GPS positions, engine on-off records, engine hours and the like.
