Medium-duty truck owners are more satisfied with their purchase if trucks are ready when promised, J. D. Power and Associates said of recent survey results. Averitt wins awards from retailer

Cookeville, Tenn.-based Averitt Express recently won Dollar General's 2009 awards for LTL Carrier of the Year and Carrier Partner of the Year. The retailer, whose headquarters are in Goodlettsville, Tenn., makes the less-than-truckload award based on a fleet's on-time service, quality and flexibility, said Averitt company spokesman Chris Asberry. WEL Companies driver named April Trucker Buddy

WEL Companies driver Allen Button, was named Trucker Buddy of the Month for April, Trucker Buddy International announced. For four years, Button has sent post cards monthly from states he passes through to Carol Bratman's students at Memorial Elementary School in Paramus, N.J. Bratman nominated Button for his several years of correspondence and visits to the school.
