A section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-70 in Kansas City will be completely closed this weekend for construction projects, while I-17 near Anthem, Arizona, north of Phoenix, will be reduced to one lane for part of the weekend.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced this week a 6% toll increase will take effect on Jan. 5, 2020, for both E-ZPass and cash customers on all sections and extensions of the turnpike except for three western Pennsylvania cashless toll facilities.

Winter storm prompts speed restrictions on Pennsylvania Turnpike
Speeds on the Turnpike are now reduced to 45 mph from the Donegal Interchange (exit 91) to the Valley Forge Interchange (exit 326). The 45 mph restriction is also in place for all of I-276, I-95 to the Delaware River Bridge, and all of I-476.

NTSB: Corrosion likely caused electrical conduit to fall in crash that killed trucker on PA Turnpike
A report released this week by federal transportation investigators says steel straps holding electrical conduits to the ceiling of a Pennsylvania Turnpike tunnel had corroded before a portion of conduit fell, killing a truck driver in February.

Weigh-station bypass service Drivewyze is rolling out a rollover-zone and other safety-notifications feature to its PreClear product later this year after a pilot test. Pennsylvania Turnpike is the latest jurisdiction/route to participate to enable safety alerts along routes.

I-276 bridge connecting N.J., Pa. turnpikes closed at least until April
The bridge was closed Jan. 20 after a complete fracture was found in a steel I-beam on the Pennsylvania side of the bridge below the driving surface in the westbound right lane. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) says the fracture makes the bridge unsafe to drive on.

New tolls coming on I-65 bridges, toll increases on horizon in several states
Beginning Dec. 30, three Ohio River bridges will begin tolling the new I-65 Abraham Lincoln Bridge, the I-65 Kennedy Bridge and the new East End bridge. Several other tolling locations around the country are also increasing tolls for trucks.
