Tracy Byrd Will Perform at GATS

| May 13, 2002

Country star Tracy Byrd will take center stage with a free concert for truckers on the opening night of the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, September 6.

The RCA artist behind hits like “Keeper of the Stars” – which earned Song of the Year from the Academy of Country Music – and “Watermelon Crawl” will be sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America. Byrd will highlight some of the songs off his newest album, Ten Rounds, including its hot new single “Just Let Me Be In Love” which is heading into the Top 10 in the music charts.

Byrd said this album is something special to him and represents a change in the way he makes music. “This album is about my newfound love of life and career and taking advantage of every minute of every day,” he said. “It’s about having fun, loving your loved ones and paying attention to the true meaning of life.”

Organizers also announced GATS has been selected as one of only 28 trade shows in America – and the only truck show – to participate in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Buyer Program. Both the department and show’s management will promote GATS abroad and provide on-site services for international exhibitors and visitors. Last year visitors from over 30 countries made the journey to GATS, and this year more countries will be represented.

“To be a trade show partner with the Department of Commerce is very exciting and a great opportunity,” said Warren Sellers, president of Sellers Expositions, the GATS show producers. “GATS selection will definitely enhance the show and provide even more services to make exhibitor’s business easier.”

The Department of Commerce will coordinate its international promotion of the show with U.S. embassies and consulates around the world. At the show an International Business Center will help foreign visitors with export counseling and an “electronic matchmaking system” will introduce international visitors to exhibiting companies with an interest in exporting.
