Trucker’s brain revealed

| October 15, 2010

Line drawing from February 1964 issue.

Overdrive‘s February 1964 unattributed line drawing, “The Trucker’s Brain,” depicts as surreal a landscape as any by Spanish Catalan painter Salvador Dali. The style is also reminiscent of Mad magazine, popular in the 1960s, and the face peeking out of the cab appears to be Mad’s signature character, Alfred E. Neuman.

Discover this and other fascinating images and stories from the past 50 years of Overdrive at Return often as stories, photos and covers are revealed over the next year from the magazine’s lively past.
