Update: Tony the tiger will stay

| March 02, 2009

Owners of the Tiger Truck Stop in Gross Tete, La., have won their battle at least temporarily to keep their tiger on the premises. Since we blogged about the case in January, Iberville Parish councilmembers voted 11-1, reported, to allow truck stop owner Michael Sandlin to qualify for “>a permit from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries that will enable him to legally keep the 550-pound tiger — that he has raised since it was a cub — at his truck stop for good.” For several pictures of the tiger and others of the truckstop, follow the Fox link above. div

divAnd if you were stranded on I-85 overnight in the Southeast, my thoughts go out to you — this blogger’s progenitors, en route from an uncharacteristically snowy Birmingham, where they came to visit, to Charlotte, where they live, were waylaid just west of the Georgia/South Carolina border by a malfunctioning water pump themselves after sitting in traffic all day, essentially. Keep your eyes peeled for one angry man driving a Pontiac, I suppose — though there’s probably a lot of those this morning, not to mention Petes and Freightliners and Internationals . . .
