Overdrive Equipment Editor Jack Roberts is (still) hanging out in Germany, where June 9 transmission maker ZF unveiled a new automated transmission and a new system that allows drivers to operate their truck from outside of the cab using a tablet computer.

    If I could get the truck to jigger back and forth while I pull the pin to slide my tandems, that’d be just great.
    Otherwise, I really have no need for a self-driving truck other than maybe to just sit at the truck stop and drink coffee while I send over my truck to the shipper or receiver to get loaded or unloaded (oops, I guess I still have to be there to get my signed bills).
