Weighing in on the hours changes

| July 23, 2013

Brooks Gregg: The break is adding 2.5 hours to my week that I’m forced to be at work. This stinks for the local drivers. I’m in and out of my rig 10-15 times a day.

Jason Cyr: Some weeks I’d be out eight days, the following week I’d be out four and home on the weekends. Can’t do that with the new hours. I’m running out of hours running U.S. and Canada.

And that is why I know longer drive, drivers just sit on their asses and let this shit happen

my 5 driver company has increased labor costs of over $1000 per month and incurred late delivery penalties of over $1000 so fay this month. Having pushed our work shifts into overtime situations and delayed start times after the new 34 hr reset rule requiring 2 1-5am periods. this has put the trucks into communte traffic on Monday mornings, causing long shift times to complete deliveries and exposing us to greater risks of collisions etc in the traffic. As usual if something can be screwed up, government idiots can do it!!

Sorry to disappoint but the new HOS has NOTHING to do with long-haul truckers and EVERYTHING to do with the ATA and the big carriers doing their best to get rid of owner-operators! It is quite apparent to me you want to blame the truckers for this. I suppose you didn’t notice that these new laws and massive regulations are coming out of Washington, D.C. Do YOU have the money to pay lobbyists to represent us when the “village idiots” are bought and paid for while they are thinking of new ways to penalize the trucking industry?

Well it sounds like your one of those drivers that just sit on their ASSES and lets this happen, no wait you just QUIT cause you don’t have the guts to do anything about it but just GIVE UP. If you’re no longer a driver you should not be BITCHING about what drivers are doing or not doing, at least they haven’t just QUIT AND GAVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • James Williams

I completely agree with you,if you are no longer a driver and are out of the struggle
people should just shut up period!sINCE IT NO LONGER AFFECTS THEM.
