XTRA adds 2,000 trailers

XTRA Lease has ordered more than 2,000 new trailers for 2013, including a mix of dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, chassis and lift-gated van trailers. In addition, the company is retrofitting hundreds of 2010 model trailers in California with side skirts, making them compliant with CARB requirements. Fuel-saving aerodynamic side skirts and low-rolling resistance tires have become standard features on all new XTRA Lease trailers, the company says.

Diesel's put a damper on the gains in months through June in owner-operator income, but the good times aren't over yet, according to ATBS.
