After more than a month away from the track, the Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series returns to action this Saturday, June 9, at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Defending series champion Ricky “Rude” Proffitt picked up his first win of the 2018 season and claimed the top spot in the overall points standings the last time the Bandits were on the track on May 5 at Concord Speedway.

“We’ve had a little bit of a break, and I know these Bandits will be itching to get back in the cab and put on a show for the great fans of Iowa,” Bandit Series General Manager Jason Johnson said.

Hawkeye Downs is one of only two tracks on the 2018 schedule that was on the schedule last year for the series’ inaugural season. Tommy Boileau claimed the win at the track last year.

The event Saturday will be an all-day affair that kicks off with the Minimizer Fan Series Truck Show, which allows truckers to bring their own rigs to the track to show off. At 4 p.m., there will be a Bandit driver meet and greet, then the racing begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $30 for adults at the gate, or $25 online before the race. Veterans and seniors can get in for $20, and children 8 and under get in free. Pit passes are available for $35.
