Save $10 on CSA 2010

How to request your Pre-Employment Screening Program data from FMCSA without paying the PSP contractor.

  1. Visit http://fmcsa.dot.gov/foia
  2. Make your request in writing and include your name, address, and a telephone number via the snail mail address noted on the above web page or via fax at (202) 385-2335 or email at foia@fmcsa.dot.gov.

Be certain to…
*Specify that you are looking for data contained with the FMCSA Pre-Employment Screening Program that is linked to your CDL.
*Make explicit that you are requesting the information under auspices of the Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act. FMCSA officials note that this request, as a matter of technicality, is a Privacy Act request, but it’s handled by the same FMCSA FOIA office. Officials also note that the office has seen many such requests since news of PSP information availability via FOIA has been in recent circulation.

In terms of timing, it will most certainly take longer to obtain data this way than paying the $10 for instant access to your report/data. I’ll check back in when I have more information on timing. Think weeks rather than days.
