Darren “Thunder” Gouveia of Lucasville, Ohio, owns this 2006 Kenworth W900L, powered by a 475-hp Caterpillar. The working truck has an 86-in. studio sleeper and a custom interior. Gouveia is installing hardwood floors and plans to modify the exterior by customizing the hood and rear section of the truck.
Classy Chemical Hauler
This 2005 Peterbilt 379X runs from Colorado to Texas for Arvada, Colo.-based Beisemeier Equipment Leasing, a petrochemical sales and distribution company. The truck runs on a 550-hp Caterpillar and 18-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Driver Clyde Carroll says the WTI rear fenders make it classy.
Frank Stamey of Bishop, Calif., owns this 2007 Peterbilt 379 extended hood. The truck runs on a 550-hp Caterpillar and an 18-speed Eaton Fuller. Stamey, an independent, hauls lumber, baked goods, birdseed and other cargo on flatbed, drop deck and end dump trailers. He says buying this second truck helped diversify his “portfolio,” hence its name.
Hook and Ladder memorial truck
New Bedford, Mass., firefighter Shawn Foley owns this 1980 Peterbilt 359 extended hood, powered by a 400-hp Cummins mechanical big cam and a 13-speed transmission. The rig displays a hearse for fallen firefighters, police officers and veterans. The side of the truck reads, “Built for those who have answered the call of duty.” Foley has offered his service in the New England area since April, when he completed customization on the truck.
Warren Nyland of Martin, Mich., owns this 1996 Kenworth W900L, which runs on a 550-hp Caterpillar and 13-speed transmission. The tri-axle heavy hauler, decked out in chrome, won Best of Show Working Bobtail at the 2008 Overdrive Pride & Polish in Louisville, Ky.
