It’s rare to see a close look at the realities of the lives of individual drivers and owner-operators anywhere outside the trucking press. In a new mini-documentary hosted at the website of the Atlantic, the well-known general-interest monthly magazine, videographer Andrew Cohn’s time spent with chaplain Chad Romera of, and visitors to, a Transport for Christ mobile chapel in Grand Rapids, Mich., manages just such a rare thing in a compact package.

As Cohn told the Atlantic upon debut of the new brief documentary a week and a half ago, much of America seems to view the trucking community only “through the lens of politics. … They are simply [seen as] voters—not real, complex people with equally complex problems. We need more resources funneled to storytellers in these areas. We need to hear these folks from a humanistic point of view.”

His new short, “Destination Park,” is well worth a watch. Find it above or via this link to the Atlantic.
