Headed for Hollywood

This 1974 Kenworth cabover had its first glimpse of stardom as Overdrive‘s Tractor of the Month in May 1978. Its owner, Bob Hudson, left St. James, N.Y., to see whether he could make it in Hollywood – Florida, that is. The truck is powered by a 318 Detroit Diesel with an RT-910 Roadranger transmission. The outstanding chromed features are: air filter, air breather, stacks and cages, hubcaps with lug covers all around, ladders, quarter-fenders and anchor braces for fuel tanks. The entire cab is upholstered in blue metal-flake vinyl that is diamond-tucked and accented with gold vinyl and varnished wood trim. The sleeper contains a television and a custom champagne bar, complete with ice bucket, wine rack and cocktail glasses enclosed in an illuminated, varnished wood cabinet.
