Pennsylvania is continuing a waiver on certain hours-of-service restrictions for drivers delivering heating oil and propane gas through Jan. 8.
The state’s transportation secretary began the measure for truckers delivering heating fuel for homes and businesses on Dec. 29.
Drivers must take a mandatory rest period after 11 hours behind the wheel. Under the declaration, drivers only have to take a rest period after driving 14 hours.
Also, a temporary exemption applies to the 60/70-hour limit over a seven/eight-day period. Instead, any seven-to-eight consecutive day period may end with the beginning of any off-duty period of 34 or more consecutive hours.
