Handicapped spots a godsend to trucker

Handicap Spaces

There are more and more truckstops that offer handicapped parking for trucks. I was surprised and grateful the first time I saw the familiar blue sign because I am a handicapped driver.

I am an amputee, and while I have no problem driving – I’ve driven over 800,000 miles with no preventable accidents – I do have days where walking is painful. Having a handicapped spot is a godsend.

Most drivers I’ve seen don’t park there out of respect. But there are those drivers who think nothing of parking there. Maybe they don’t think there are handicapped truck drivers. We do exist, and we would appreciate it very much if you would keep our spaces reserved.
