I met Bill and Brenda Striebich as I was checking into a hotel in Dallas just prior to this past year’s Great American Trucking Show. They were warm and friendly, and I liked them immediately.

The Striebichs are members of the Snyder family of Michigan – Truckers News’ 2002 Great American Trucking Family. In all, the Snyder family boasted 18 current drivers. They are great ambassadors for the trucking industry. They also were wonderful representatives for the inaugural award.

Our editorial staff has begun its search for the 2003 Great American Trucking Family. Whether you are part of an extended trucking family, which may include brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins or in-laws, or maybe you are the third- or fourth-generation driver, we want to hear your story.

To enter, simply turn back a page and fill out the form. Feel free to attach additional information to the form and get it back to us by June 1. Or you can visit our website, www.truckersnews.com, and fill out the form outline.

The winning family will be featured in the September issue of Truckers News, and will be announced at the Great Ameri-can Trucking Show in Dallas, Sept. 26-28.

This annual contest is just one of several things we offer to recognize our readers. The Mark Twain Essay Contest, sponsored by NATSO, salutes drivers and family members for their writing talents. The best essays are published throughout the year and the top three stories are rewarded with a cash prize. Move over, Mr. Hemingway.

Speaking of writers, we also offer free audiobooks to drivers who would like to be published reviewers of books on tape. You can check out the latest audiobooks we have available in the “Driver Diversions” department of the magazine. Once you’ve received your selected audiobook, fill out the review form and send it back. The audiobook is yours to keep and your review will appear in a future issue. Happy listening.

We also have several opportunities throughout the year for you to take part in surveys that could put cash in your pocket. Fill out the survey and hopefully we’ll be contacting you in the future to inform you that you are a sweepstakes winner. Good luck.

We also want to hear what’s on you mind. If you have something you just have to get off your chest, or if you have advice for other truckers, write our editors a letter. Be sure to include your name, address and daytime phone. Your opinion is important to us.

We offer plenty of opportunities for you to get involved, be recognized and rewarded. Hope to hear from you soon.
