Fit for the Road 5K run/walk to be held at GATS

FeatureImage_5KIn conjunction with the free health screenings that will be offered at the Landstar Fit for the Road Health and Wellness Pavilion at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, there will also be a Fit for the Road 5K Charity run/walk on Saturday, Aug. 29.

The event is geared to promote a healthy lifestyle for truckers and a healthy cause. Registration is $30 prior to the morning of the run and $40 on-site, with the proceeds going to the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund.

The St. Christopher Fund is a truck driver charity that helps drivers whose medical problems have led to financial hardship. The SCF is also working to provide programs that will benefit professional drivers and the trucking industry.

Included in the registration will be a pre-race packet which includes a GATS Fit for the Road 5K T-shirt (available in men’s and women’s sizes), a runners bib with a built-in timer, and information on the Fit for the Road Health & Wellness Pavilion.

Registration will begin at the GATS Community Tailgate at Fair Park at 6:30 a.m. with a 7 a.m. race start. Round-trip shuttle service will also be provided from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center at 6 a.m. Online registration will be available in the coming weeks.
