Mack Trucks announced this week an updated version of its proprietary engine oil, which it says can extend oil drain intervals up to 15,000 miles, depending on the application.

Introduced as the factory oil in Mack’s 2017 engines, the company’s EOS-4.5 engine oil also extends intervals for all 2011 and newer Mack engines.

With this oil, drain intervals have been extended to 60,000, 50,000 and 40,000 miles for long-haul, regional-haul and heavy-haul applications, respectively. Mack says the extensions could allow truck owners to skip between four and 16 oil drains over the life of an engine.

The oil is available in 10W-30 and 15W-40 weights and can be used anywhere API CK-4 oils are recommended. It’s also backward compatible with all API CJ-4 applications.
