Prospective truck drivers in Colorado will soon be required to receive training on recognizing and reporting human trafficking as part of their CDL training.
New legislation in Colorado signed into law last week by Gov. John Hickenlooper will require new commercial driver’s license applicants to complete a 30-minute training session by Truckers Against Trafficking at no extra cost in order to obtain their license. CDL schools in the state will be required to include the training as part of the overall CDL course.
Truckers Against Trafficking’s online course includes a 26-minute video and a 15-question quiz to become certified.
Several other states, including Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Ohio and Washington, have instituted similar requirements as part of CDL training.
The law is scheduled to go into effect on Aug. 8.
