A truck carrying a load of honey overturned Wednesday morning along I-80/94 near Hammond, Indiana, shutting down the three left eastbound lanes.

Indiana State Police say the truck was hauling 41,000 pounds of honey, and when the truck rolled over, five of the containers came out of the box trailer, some of which are leaking onto the interstate.

ISP adds that the truck likely was coming onto I-80/94 Eastbound off of Calumet Avenue when the front axle broke, causing the driver to lose control and roll over. The driver told police he had just fueled up and that in addition to honey, the truck was also leaking fuel.

Police say the cleanup and closure may take an extended amount of time and traffic will be impacted in both directions.
