Sleep apnea, trucking and Swift driver Kenneth Armstrong — at MSNBC.com

Swift driver mentor Kenneth Armstrong is the lead source in JoNel Aleccia’s story this week on MSNBC.com about fleet efforts to address sleep apnea among their drivers to face down what many see as coming government regulation of drivers with the condition. The story, not a bad look at the subject in spite of its woefully exaggerated title (“Heavy, drowsy truckers pose risk on the road”), is here. For more on proposed and potential regulation, see the January Truckers News feature here.

Armstrong’s been on the leading edge of outreach to fellow drivers and in the media in recent times; he was also a prime voice in my colleague Carolyn Magner’s Truckers News current-issue cover story, “Driven to Despair,” about dealing with depression in hard times.
