Mowing down those orange cones

At the Allegany County Fair in Cumberland, Md., this past week, we noticed that the cartoon backdrop of a kiddie ride named Truck Stop depicts happy truckers in the act of mowing down panicked construction workers and their equally panicked orange cones — which have faces like pets, or familiars.

If you want to see Truck Stop for yourself, it’s in Reithoffer Shows’ Blue Unit, and the schedule is here. And while you’re there, please take some photos to send us; our action shots got a bit blurred. (Imagine our shots of the Super-Himalaya.)

Reithoffer Shows, incidentally, claims to have invented the first kiddie-car ride, in 1924.
