Owner-operator bags new drive tires
Owner-operator Martin Marvel of Lakeville, Ind., came out with a set of new Continental drive tires and service after a random-draw promotion headed up by Apex Capital, the Fort Worth, Texas-based factoring company. The drawing was intended to promote
Apex’s new-tire discount promotion for its factoring clients. If you use Apex, keep in mind that discounts are available through the clients on Continental and General tire brands.

Continental Tire dealer Best One Tire & Service of South Bend, Ind., supplied tires and installation on Marvel’s Western Star, with which he hauls reefer freight around the Midwest.

And re: Apex, I was perusing their Youtube vids today and thought you might get a kick out of this little commercial, strong on humor as it were. Thanks for caring, drivers… Enjoy!

‘I am a truck driver’s wife’ poem
Dennis Ebers 2 editThe following came across the desk recently from Janice Ebers, who wrote it “from the heart” for her owner-operator husband, Dennis (pictured, right, with his Freightliner). “Dennis and I have been married for a little over a year,” Janice wrote. “My father was a trucker … many years ago, and when I was 10 he died after an accident (no fault of his) while driving his truck.” That left Ebers’ mother “with 5 little kids to raise,” she says, “back in the 60s. I have a lot of respect for the drivers out there and the work they do. Not saying this is a great poem, but again it came from the heart”…. Enjoy, drivers.

I am a truck driver’s wife, you are my life.
You leave home cruising down the road with your truck and load.
I come home from work at night and I turn on the light. I know you’re not here, nor are you near.
This is the life of a Truck Drivers wife.

When you’re gone the nights are long
I pray you’re safe on that long road to home
That you’re not alone.
This is the life of a truck driver’s wife

The smile on my face as you enter in the door would make an eagle fly high and soar
I know we only have a few nights to share
To show each other how much we care
This is the life of a truck driver’s wife

God has blessed me with the husband that I have and it makes me so very glad
That I have a trucker in my life, because I am a trucker’s wife.

Be kind on the road to the truckers you see
They have families and friends just as we.
The job they do is not easy, you see.
Long roads, long hours they spend each day just to make a decent pay.
So cherish your trucker as much as you can because you never know what is God’s plan.

Stay safe out there.
