RIDE OF DREAMS

Stuart Geltmaker of Floyds Knobs, Ind., says he drove dump trucks for several companies but soon realized the only way he would fulfill his dream of driving a truck would be to buy one. In 1998, Geltmaker purchased this 1979 Kenworth K100, with a 3408 Caterpillar engine and an Eaton Fuller 15-speed transmission. He spent three years gathering parts and restoring the truck. Now, the refinished rig features 10 aluminum rims, custom light bars on the back of the cab and fuel tanks, eight-bag air suspension and an air-ride cab with dual Eldorado air-ride seats.

TOGETHER AT LAST

When this 1974 Diamond Reo was new, its current owner was only 1 year old. The truck passed through the hands of several friends for decades before Jerry K. Patterson of Ellisville, Miss., bought it in 1998. The truck is powered by a 350 Cummins, which Patterson says is just right for hauling logs and equipment all over south Mississippi.
