Driver gets 18 months for falsified logbook

For the Record

A federal judge has sentenced Philadelphia trucker Valerijs Nikolaevich Belovs, 58, to 18 months in prison on 15 counts of making false statements via a falsified log book in connection to a sentence he was already serving for vehicular homicide.

Belovos had kept four logbooks, each falsified to fit possible situations with authorities.

The day of the accident, Belovs rear ended a car during rush hour traffic, causing a crash chain reaction. The driver of the car Belovs hit died.

Belovs had been sentenced by a county court to 23 months in prison and a $300 fine on April 26, 2010. He had pleaded guilty to various state charges.
