Flexibility in appointment times from Convoy broker

The Convoy tech-enabled brokerage has introduced a new “Flex Loads” program that offers owner-operators and fleets utilizing the digital freight transaction service the ability, on loads where pick-up and drop-off times are flexible, to “choose when they want to pick up or drop off their load based on what is right for their schedule,” the company said recently, part of a blog post announcing the new feature.

The “Flex Loads” option will now appear in the Convoy mobile app, and the company pitches the concept as their way of helping promote efficiency in operations for carriers to help maximize loaded time and minimize deadhead miles and detention. For shippers, the company believes Flex Loads will ultimately help in generating greater on-time deliveries and increasing attractiveness to haulers as a “shipper of choice.”

Within Flex Loads in the Convoy app, for a load with which it is available, carriers will see a date range and can “choose the appointment time that is best suited to their schedule, allowing them to organize round trips and fit more loads into their day,” Convoy says.
