Tom Riley of Chesapeake Bay, Md., drives this 2003 Peterbilt 379 equipped with a Caterpillar C12 and 10-speed transmission. Riley hauls agricultural lime for the Maryland Farm Bureau and others with the pictured ’08 Maximizer dump trailer. He owns and manages the eight-truck Riley Enterprises, which he started in 1989, and he’s kept his personal rig mostly stock.
Affected tractors are equipped with an automated Eaton UltraShift Plus or Eaton Advantage Transmission with right hand stalk shifter. In the affected trucks, the display on the instrument panel can indicate “N” when the shifter is set into “D” or “R,” causing the truck not to move.
