Border Patrol agents in Laredo, Texas, are on the lookout for a truck driver who fled from a checkpoint, abandoned his truck and took off on foot Sunday, June 2.

According to a press release from the Border Patrol, agents referred a tractor-trailer for secondary inspection after a canine alerted to the odor of the presence of concealed humans and/or drugs. As the truck pulled forward, the driver sped off, fleeing the checkpoint.

Agents followed the truck, which came to a stop on I-35 near milemarker 30. The driver then reportedly took off into the brush and escaped. Agents then inspected the truck and found 52 people inside the trailer.

The trucker is described as a 6-foot male with a tattoo on his neck who was last seen wearing a black shirt. Anyone with information regarding the fleeing trucker is encouraged to contact the Laredo Sector Border Patrol toll free at 1-800-343-1994.
