The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has extended the deadline for part of its roadability rule.
It changed the deadline to June 30 for submission of Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and Driver Vehicle Examination Reports. Other provisions of the Dec. 17, 2009 compliance date remain unchanged.
The FMCSA also announced a fifth marking option for identifying the intermodal energy provider responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of items of intermodal equipment in response to a petition for reconsideration from the Intermodal Association of North America.
The FMCSA made the changes to its Dec. 17, 2008, final rule that made intermodal equipment providers subject to certain FMCS Regulations and establishes shared safety responsibility among intermodal equipment providers, motor carriers and drivers.
