Florida closes Pompano Beach plaza

Trucks no longer can park at the Florida Turnpike’s Pompano Beach Service Plaza until its renovation is complete in spring 2012.

Plaza reconstruction began Nov. 8, which will ultimately provide 40 truck parking spaces, or 22 more spaces than before. The plaza, located at milepost 65, is the first of the turnpike’s plazas to be renovated.

The fuel station and its convenience store at the northern end of the site will be open during the reconstruction of the plaza’s restaurant-store combination. Dunkin’ Donuts, Earl of Sandwich and Villa Pizza will be closed during this time.
