Now through Jan. 4, large trucks will be assessed the same tolls as cars on Texas 130 and Texas 45 Southeast.
Car tolls are between $6.44 and $8.53 for the 56-mile bypass near Austin. Truck tolls are about three times the passenger car rate after being cut back from four times the car rate last March.
The Texas Department of Transportation is examining whether reduced tolls will impact traffic on I-35 and the toll roads. Traffic has increased on the toll roads over the last five years but traffic remains heavy on I-35, TxDOT said.
