Diesel price gains

Trucks Fueling 2 OdAfter six straight weeks of decreases, the U.S. average diesel price jumped 4.5 cents to $3.828 through Jan. 9, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.

The average price had declined 22.7 cents over the previous six weeks. The latest price is 49.5 cents higher than a year earlier.

Prices in all regions rose, led by 6.6 cents to $3.82 in the Lower Atlantic states. California’s average gained 6.5 cents to $4.111, while 6.4-cent increases were reported for the overall East Coast to $3.908 and Central Atlantic to $3.996.

The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
