Diesel price dips

The U.S. average diesel price dropped slightly after two weeks of increases, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The national average price dipped 0.6-cent to $3.848 through Jan. 23.

The latest price is 41.8 cents higher than a year earlier.

Prices in all regions but two declined, with the biggest drop of 1 cent a gallon in the Midwest to $3.736 and Lower Atlantic to $3.843. California’s average price increased ½-cent to $4.121 and New England went up 0.1-cent to $4.077.

The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
