Genre: Suspense

Plot: The main characters are Sara Linton, who is a doctor/medical examiner, and Jeffrey Tolliver, the police chief of a small town in Georgia. Jeffrey is also Sara’s ex-husband. Lena Adams is a detective.

A body of a young girl is found buried in the woods in a box with a pipe sticking out of the ground. The body is a young girl from a large religious group that has a church and runs a large farm. The farm has all kinds of people working on it – people just passing through, drunks, drug addicts. When the police discover several people from the farm have died over the past two years, it starts to look like the murderer might be someone even closer to the church – maybe even a family member. You will be hooked from the beginning to the end trying to figure out who the killer is.

What was your favorite moment? Since I have listened to Karin Slaughter’s books, I was glad when Jeffrey and Sara decide to remarry. It’s plain that they both love each other very much.

Which character was your favorite? Sara. She loves to help people and does whatever it takes to find justice for the victims.

What did you like or dislike? I liked the entire book.

Would you recommend?: Yes. If you like this book, you should listen to all of Karin Slaughter’s books. I have heard all of them and liked every one. Can’t wait for the next one.

Narrator’s style: Francie Swift does a fine job. She lets her voice change for the different parts of the book. She tells the story in a voice and a way that you don’t want to stop listening until the end.

How would you grade the book? A+

Which character was your favorite? Billy Wiles because no matter what they do to him, he keeps it all together and keeps going.

Did the audiobook have a message or theme? We are stronger than we think. We can and will do a lot to survive.

What did you like or dislike? Dean Koontz is a good author, but this book was a bit fractured in the beginning. But it all comes together in the end.

Would you recommend?: Yes, because it a good guess-who-done-it type book.

Narrator’s style: Michael Hayden is a good narrator, but he needs to work on volume. Sometimes he fades almost completely out on some voices.

How would you grade the book?

The Colorado Kid – by Stephen King
On an island off the coast of Maine, a man is found dead. There’s no identification on the body. Only the dogged work of a pair of local newspapermen and a graduate student in forensics turns up any clues.

But that’s just the beginning of the mystery. Because the more they learn about the man and the baffling circumstances of his death, the less they understand. Was it an impossible crime? Or something stranger still?

No one but Stephen King could tell this story about the darkness at the heart of the unknown and our compulsion to investigate the unexplained. With echoes of Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon and the work of Graham Greene, one of the world’s great storytellers presents a surprising tale that explores the nature of mystery itself.
