Trucker pen pal program Trucker Buddy International announced at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas this week that it has renamed its Ambassador of the Year award to posthumously honor long-time Trucker Buddy Darrel Hicks, who died in July.

He was an original board member of Trucker Buddy when the organization became a certified non-profit. He even served as the organization’s president for a time. He was an active member of the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations and was the only non-driver ambassador and worked with the program for 26 years.
