Large carrier announces pay increase for safe drivers

U.S.-Xpress2U.S. Xpress, the country’s 12th largest carrier, recently announced a pay increase for drivers with good safety records.

The company said it will increase the base mileage pay by an average of 13.5 percent for over-the-road solo drivers who remain accident and ticket free with no CSA violations for a year, effective March 1.

U.S. Xpress said in a statement last week the pay increase is being implemented to ensure the company continues to recruit and retain drivers.

Starting on March 1, U.S. Xpress OTR solo drivers who have a 12-month safe driving record and are accident, CSA violation and ticket free, will earn the raise. According to the company, with this such a driver with five years of experience could make over $70,000 a year. A driver who meets the same criteria and becomes a training advisor for Xpress Academy could make over $110,000, according to the company.
