Mack, Volvo, Stoughton Trailers and more are some of the latest equipment and tech companies to make announcements at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council’s annual conference, which is ongoing in Nashville through Thursday.

Mack Trucks announced the availability of its Mack Over The Air (OTA) software updates for upcoming 2018 model-year Mack models equipped with GuardDog Connect telematics hardware and 2017 Mack engines. The new service will allow OTA programing for powertrain components and certain vehicle parameters as duty cycles change based on geographic area and load types.
Additionally, Volvo Trucks North America introduced its Remote Programming system, an expansion of its Remote Diagnostics platform that allows over-the-air powertrain software and vehicle parameter updates across North America anywhere a cellular network is available. The new system will be available later this summer for all Volvo trucks equipped with Volvo-powered, 2017 GHG-compliant engines.

Stoughton Trailers debuted several new design features for its Z-Plate and Aluminum Sheet and Post trailers. The company redesigned its dry van components to reduce maintenance, improve durability, increase interior space and provide more standardization so they are interchangeable between Z-Plate and the Aluminum Sheet and Post trailers.
Moving to standard components and parts allows for smaller parts inventory and provides more streamlined repair and maintenance flow.
Other design updates include a new top rail design, a taller lower rail and more.
Noregon, PeopleNet to introduce all-makes telematics program
Noregon and PeopleNet are extending their relationship to deliver a new all-makes, all-models telematics system that will offer predictive analytics to help fleets reduce downtime.
Speaking on the new system, PeopleNet’s Tom Dorzaio said the platform will use the resources of both companies to analyze fault codes as they occur in real time, assign severity levels and provide recommended service actions. This will allow fleets to monitor wearing parts and schedule service prior to breakdowns, reducing downtime.
