Schneider (No. 8 on the CCJ Top 250) has been awarded for being a military-friendly employer for the 11th time, the company announced recently.

The company received Victory Media’s 2017 Military Friendly Gold Award, which recognizes companies that provide positive employment opportunities for veterans and their families.

When hiring veterans, Schneider converts military experience to experience with the company to help boost starting pay. The company also doesn’t require National Guard and reservists to take time off for weekend drill and annual training, and guarantees home time for these events. Finally, Schneider is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs Apprenticeship Program, which allows military veterans to use GI Bill benefits for a time while employed with Schneider.

The company says more than a quarter of its employees have a military background.
