Averitt deploys SmartDrive camera system fleetwide

Averitt Express has deployed the SmartDrive road-facing camera system across its 4,800-truck fleet, SmartDrive announced last week. Averitt is the country’s 21st largest carrier, according to the CCJ Top 250.

The company opted not to deploy driver-facing cameras, though the current in-cab hardware being used allows the carrier to if it chooses to upgrade its video program.

Averitt says it opted for the system to reduce accidents and liability claims.

As noted by Overdrive reporting in March, adoption by fleets of driver-facing and road-facing cameras continues to grow.
