I-20/59 in Birmingham to close overnight Friday

Truckers traveling northbound through Birmingham, Ala., Friday night will have to detour around a construction zone on I-20/59.

The Alabama Department of Transportation, weather permitting, plans to close all northbound lanes on I20/59 west of the I-65 interchange. Traffic from I-20/59 to I-65 will be diverted west of the interchange. Exits from I-65 North and South for I-20/59 will also be closed.

The closure is scheduled from 11 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday.
