Cooper Tire & Rubber, after years of selling its Roadmaster Tires for the low-price trailer tire market, is introducing Cooper-branded premium radial tires for long haul, regional and severe duty applications. The models include steer, drive and trailer tires, said Gary Schroeder, director of global truck and bus tires.
The long-haul tires are branded Pro Series. The LHD (drive) tires will be launched May 1. The LHS (steer) and LHT (trailer) models will be launched next year.
The Work Series encompasses the new regional haul tires and the Severe Series includes mixed service tires. These series will be launched May 1.
“With the Pro Series and Work Series, we’re really marketing cost of ownership,” Schroeder said. That is based on price, fuel efficiency, expected tread life and casing integrity for retreading.
Cooper will soon release information on partnerships for distribution of the new truck tires. The company now partners with TA/Petro on its Roadmaster series.
“Cooper will also continue to offer the Roadmaster brand, which has provided quality products primarily to owner-operators and trailer manufacturers for more than a decade,” Schroeder said.
The Pro Series LHD has 30/32nd tread depth and closed shoulders.
The Work Series RHA (all-position) has 22.5/32nd tread depth and a four-rib design. The Work Series RHD has 26/32nd tread and open shoulder for maximum traction. The Work Series offers high resistance to cuts and chips, and has tread depths ranging from 16/32nd to 18/32nd.
The Severe Series MSA has 24/32nd tread with full-width, four-belt construction.
