I-10 Westbound in Phoenix set to close this weekend

Truckers planning to travel westbound through Phoenix this weekend should make plans for an alternate route as the Arizona Department of Transportation will close a section of I-10 Westbound from 10 p.m. Friday, July 27, through 5 a.m. Sunday, July 29.

The interstate will be closed between 51st and 67th avenues for a bridge construction project on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway. ADOT recommends drivers take Loop 101 west of I-17 as an alternate route.

During the closure, traffic can exit the interstate at 51st Avenue, detour either north to McDowell Road or south to Van Buren Street and return to I-10 at 67th Avenue. The new westbound I-10 access road will also remain open during construction.
