Women in Trucking begins search for top female trucker
The Women in Trucking Association and Walmart are seeking nominations for the inaugural Women in Trucking Female Driver of the Year award. The award will recognize female truck drivers who lead the industry in safety standards while actively working to enhance the public image of the trucking industry.

The grand prize winner will be selected based on safety record, impact on the industry’s image and positive community contributions. The contest is open to any female driver or contractor who has safely drive 1 million consecutive accident-free miles, and the driver must be nominated by the carrier they are currently leased or employed with.

Nominations can be made here through Feb. 15. The award will be presented at the 2020 Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 27.

Matching funds today going to St. Christopher if $1K goal reached
The #GivingTuesday phenomenon is one of global reach that began in the year 2012 as an effort to help boost fund-raising initiatives for philanthropic organizations. It’s estimated that for these past seven years, it’s inspired hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. #GivingTuesday, this year, is today, December 3.

The St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund today is conducting a special campaign toward #GivingTuesday donations with a goal of reaching $1,000. The organization, whose mission is to financially assist truck drivers hit with medical-emergency-related disasters, has spent nearly $3 million on that mission over its existence. It’s announced that donations made today will be matched up to the $1,000 figure by Minnesota-based fleet Dart Transit, among other matching organizations.
