California-based drayage fleet ceases operations
Fresno, Calif.-based T.G.S. Logistics shuttered operations effective July 31, the company announced Thursday.
"After four decades of dedicated service to the transportation industry, we will be parking our trucks for good," the company said via a statement. "While the decision to close was a difficult one, influenced by the challenging market conditions facing the industry, our focus today is on expressing our deepest gratitude to all who have been a part of the TGS journey."
T.G.S. is at least the second carrier to not make it out of the month of July, joining Carroll Fulmer in its industry exit.
In its statement, however, 20-truck T.G.S. told its customers that, while the company is closing, "we are pleased to inform you that some members of our dedicated team will continue to serve the industry under a new flag. We will be sharing more detailed information about these new opportunities and how you can continue to receive exceptional service in the very near future."
T.G.S. has offices in Fresno, California, and Reno, Nevada, and serviced the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland for international drayage and rail ramps in Lathrop, Stockton and Oakland in California, and Reno in Nevada. The company specialized in the import and export of dry and reefer cargo, retail, industrial and everyday goods.

T.G.S was founded by Timothy G. Schneider May 1, 1985. Tim’s son, Peter, who serves as company president, joined T.G.S. full-time in 1993.

Recall hits certain ’26 Mack Granites with incompatible brake-axle combo
Mack Trucks is recalling approximately 36 model year 2026 Mack Granite trucks in which the brake drum and steer axle combination are incompatible, which may cause a loss of brake function, according to recall documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
As a result, the trucks fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems." Additionally, reduced brake function can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
The affected trucks were built between Feb. 6 and April 10, 2025.
Dealers will replace the steer axle brake drums, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Sept. 19. Owners can contact Mack's customer service at 800-866-1177 with recall number SC0482. NHTSA’s recall number is 25V-495.
