Truckstop.com launches heavy-haul focused load board

Pricing heavy haul freight has long required specialized carriers to juggle multiple tools, incomplete data, and costly assumptions -- often under tight time pressure.

Truckstop.com this week announced efforts to address the challenge with the new Heavy Haul Load Board Pro, a platform designed for heavy and over-dimensional carriers to price and book higher-margin freight with greater accuracy, the company said.

To price heavy-haul loads, carriers often rely on multiple tools to determine the permit requirements, escort needs, and route options, Truckstop.com noted. This fragmented process delays decision-making and increases the risk of underpricing.

“Carriers that specialize in oversize freight face more complexity and greater risk when evaluating and pricing loads,” said Scott Moscrip, CEO and Founder of Truckstop.com. “When a single miscalculation can erase margin or create compliance issues, carriers need tools that reflect how they actually work.”

The new Heavy Haul Load Board Pro is designed to reduce guesswork and help carriers make confident decisions by bringing critical details into a single workflow:

  • Load searches can be filtered specifically for oversize, over-dimensional, and heavy-haul equipment types from the Truckstop.com database.
  • Search radius is expandable up to 1,000+ miles.
  • Permit requirements, escort needs, and route considerations sit in one place.
  • Key details for each load are displayed in the search results to generate fast, accurate rate quotes.
  • Access to everything already included in Truckstop.com’s Load Board Pro platform supports efficient planning and quick action on the best opportunities.

Heavy Haul Load Board Pro is available for $299/month. The platform includes 25 rate quotes and 25 permit quotes, with transparent overage pricing so carriers pay only for what they use beyond the included amount.

The Heavy Haul Load Board Pro is the second niche-specific load board introduced by Truckstop.com in recent months. In October, the company introduced a dry van-only board at a lower price point.

FMCSA reinstates previously-revoked ELD

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reinstated the DSG Elogs device from DSG Tracking, re-listing it on the agency's device registry less than a week after revoking the device’s certification.

FMCSA did not provide additional details as to why the device was revoked or what corrections were made to get it reinstated.

The DSG Elogs device was one of four revoked on Jan. 13. The other three devices -- PremierRide Logs, State Elogs and State Elogs 2 -- remain revoked. Carriers and drivers using those devices have until March 15 to replace them with a compliant device.

Saia rebranding brokerage arm to Saia Logistics

Saia Inc. has announced that its logistics arm, LinkEx, will begin operating as “Saia Logistics” starting this week. The change aligns Saia’s freight and logistics services under a single brand, creating a simpler and more connected experience for customers, the company said.

LinkEx has been part of the Saia organization for more than a decade. Moving forward, operating as Saia Logistics simply reflects how closely the Saia freight and LinkEx teams work together, Saia added, bringing the carrier’s less-than-truckload (LTL) network and growing logistics capabilities under one name.

“Unifying our logistics services fully under the Saia brand helps customers better understand the breadth of solutions we offer,” said Ray Ramu, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. “It also supports our long-term growth strategy while maintaining the high level of service our customers expect.”

The transition is a brand alignment only, the company noted. There are no changes to ownership, service, pricing, agreements, or day-to-day operations. Customers will continue working with the same contacts and using the same processes and capabilities they rely on today.

Under the Saia Logistics name, customers can continue to take advantage of the company’s full range of services -- truckload, expedited, warehousing, distribution and consolidation, final mile, international, and integrated logistics -- alongside Saia’s LTL network.
