Great times abound in Dallas at the Great American Trucking Show, not the least of which is this nifty Plinko board at the Roady’s/OTR Pro Fuel Card booth — the new card offering flat off-the-top per-gallon discounts to small fleets and owner-operators (with a $4 a month membership fee) at more than 700 stops currently, and expanding. Stop by the booth (#13661) to play for a mini Mag-light, hat and more. (I wasn’t up to snuff myself, but the challenge was fun.)
Great crowd out at the Big Rig Run 5K this morning, where I managed a 25-min. time, four minutes better than I did last year. And get out to the truck lot tonight for the driver-provided entertainment and burgers and brats to benefit the Chance Rogers fund I wrote about Monday — last night, David Cline was on-hand singing standards and telling tales the show off a custom chopper he’s put together with a Texas-Hold-Em theme. Check out pictures of it in the gallery below.
I also caught up with owner-operator Scott Grenerth — today he’ll be in his RideandRoll.me booth out in the lot, sharing info about the biking trail map he and other owner-operators/drivers have put together for cyclists in big rigs out there. All of the sites on the map are convenient to truckstops. And, finally, after a year since I heard about it initially, Grenerth’s mammoth new bike (he’s well north of six feet) I got to finally see in action, with a little hometown Nashville flair in the East Side Cycles carrying pouch under the seat. Check it out in the gallery.
