Corvette of trucking: ‘Monterey Red’ 2012 Peterbilt 389

[74654] Skip Avara saw a maroon Corvette and couldn’t forget about it, so he decided to paint his 2012 Peterbilt 389 the custom color known as Monterey Red. “We had to get permission from GM to paint it that color – it took me six months to get it,” says Avara, who is leased by Enterprise Transportation and hauls crude oil out of Houston. The truck – powered by a 550 Cummins and an 18-speed transmission – placed second in the Working Class division at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.
